MIS Engineer

Position is located in Port-au-Prince, HaitiObjective:
- Responsible for the efficient and secured operation of all core business applications (particularly eMerge, Accpac)
- To administer the controls, tables, and access authority to core business applications for all users
- To provide end user training and support and leads the testing and implementation of new business system releases provided by vendors or internal developers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Systems Support
- Provide technical and user support for eMerge, Loan Performer and Accpac – in particular, specification, acquisition and installation of a server, specification and documentation of operational and reporting requirements, implementation and maintenance of the chart of accounts, design of the financial reports and full testing of financial reports, creation of a test environment for User Acceptance Testing, and documentation.
- Implements MIS service delivery standards, policies, and procedures to support the corporate business plan, business operations and support functions.
- Administers the control parameters and tables of the business systems.
- Assigns and updates business system user security profiles.
- Provides ongoing support of end users through troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Trains end users utilizing the business systems when new releases of the software are installed.Leads the implementation and testing procedures to ensure that newly released software produce the expected results for the business operations.
- Develops job aids to assist end users in effective system utilization.
- Monitors key reports produced by the system to ensure system integrity.
- Establishes business system backup, recovery and data retention criteria.
- Delivers, installs, sets-up, tests, and implements all new software systems and upgrades.
- Customizes business systems to meet organizational requirements.
- Monitors system performance and troubleshoots problems related to software.
- Ensures business systems availability at all times required by users
- Relates with software system contractors and suppliers to resolve complex technical problems.

- Must be able to write, speak, and read Creole, French, and English well
- Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Computer Science from a reputable university or college
- Knowledge of Microfinance operations
- Advanced User Support knowledge of Temenos eMerge/T24 banking software
- 1-3 years experience in microfinance or banking computer systems and micro credit business knowledge
- At least 2 years support experience for Microsoft SQL-based applications or Accpac accounting software
- Good knowledge of microfinance business practices
- Some application development skills in VisualBasic or C++ preferred.
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of related statutory IT compliance regulations and IT and MIS banking policies, procedures and systems
- Knowledge of lending, banking and transformation products policies and procedures
- Ability to deliver functional and business MIS goals and objective
- Ability to set, monitor, and assess achievements against performance targets and quality standards
- Ability to conceptualize and articulate ideas
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to third parties and employees
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to adapt and work co-operatively and effectively in different situations and teams to carry out assigned task

- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Skill to locate routine mathematical errors
- Computation of rate, ratio and percent including the drafting and interpretation of business financial reports and bar graphs
