Network Engineer
To ensure the efficient and secure operation of IT infrastructure which includes all components of the Wide Area Network (routers, switches, firewalls), server infrastructure (including operating system support), electronic mail and Internet service and components of any electronic payment systems deployed (i.e. ATMs, PoS devices).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
With limits of delegated authority from the IT Director, the Network Engineer will be responsible for the following:
IT Infrastructure Management
- Effectively manage the Wide Area Network to ensure reliable connectivity for all branches
- Installs and maintains all servers hardware to agreed standards
- Ensures adequate intruder prevention security exists for all firewalls, routers and managed switches
- Installs, configures and maintains an effective antivirus regime for the organization
- Works with Branch Support Engineers to ensure that all computers at the branches are virus protected.
- Develops and maintains a system backup procedure for disaster recovery
- Develops and implements an effective maintenance and service routine for IT infrastructure equipment.
- Installs and maintains a healthy Windows Active Directory environment
- Manages Microsoft Windows Updates and works with Branch Support Engineers to ensure all branch computers have the latest updates
- Builds and maintains strong working relationships with third-party service providers (e.g. OI)
- Ensures clean, adequate and uninterrupted electricity supply to the server room
- Coordinates with Telephone company to ensure stable telephone infrastructure at all branches
- High level skill in scripting
Qualification
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science
- CCNA certification or relevant work experience
- Microsoft MCSE or working towards MCSE certification plus relevant work experience
IT and MIS Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience in configuring routers, firewalls and managing a WAN
- Minimum 1 years’ experience supporting a medium to large network of computers in a multi-branch institution
- Solid knowledge of Windows Active Directory and server operating systems
- Good understanding of Linux operating system, electronic mail and Internet systems
- Ability to support Microsoft Office Suite and other software that is critical to the business operations
- Ability to utilize and troubleshoot Microsoft Office products, LAN technology, dialup and wide area networks, system utilities and vendor supplied software products.
Banking Compliance Regulations and Legal Legislation
- Knowledge of related statutory IT compliance regulations and IT and MIS banking policies, procedures and systems
- Knowledge of lending, banking and transformation product and services
