Volunteer or Intern
Volunteer
Would you like to start a local Fonkoze USA support committee in your hometown? Volunteer in Washington, DC? If so, please contact our US office by email to learn more.
Be an Intern
Fonkoze offers exciting internships throughout the year. Interns will become intimately involved in our dynamic rural microcredit and business development programs that are on the cutting edge of innovation in fighting rural poverty. They will gain a detailed understanding of our pioneering educational program that combines basic literacy training with practical education in business development, sexual and reproductive health, and use of financial services.
We look for interns whose skills match our needs in a variety of areas, so if you're interested, please contact us for more information to see what type of role you could play in the institution. We ask that interns plan to spend at least three months in Haiti, though six months is preferred, have some level of Creole proficiency (preferred), French proficiency, or be willing to learn Creole, and the financial means to cover expenses while in Haiti, as internships are unpaid.
Past interns have helped devise a research survey to assess the speed with which our poorest members climb out of poverty, examined the role of village assistance committees' role in our members' progress, and served as financial analysts for Fonkoze Financial Services. To hear directly from our 2011 interns, read Q&As with them on the Fonkoze blog.
