What is the Cutting Edge for Microfinance in Remote, Hard to Reach Areas?
This case study describes Fonkoze’s experience with its branch in Marigot, Haiti, discussing its efforts to improve financial service delivery to the poor, establish center attendance, repayment and proper investment of loans and efforts to shift center leadership from MFI staff to local credit center members. The paper highlights Fonkoze’s belief in opening branches in underserved areas and spreading their reach through traditional solidarity group credit centers.
